Children day and World Menstrual hygiene day
The 27th of May is a day set aside to celebrate children in Nigeria while the 28th of May is the world menstrual hygiene day. MKCDF celebrates these days with the Leni Keller trainees and other community members together in their centers in Oron and in Uyo on the 27th of May and the 28the of May. Focus is to celebrate the children and to raise awareness of the need of proper childcare and support for a healthy society.
Also celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day aligns with several SDGs, including those related to health (SDG 3), education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), and reducing inequalities (SDG 10).
By celebrating World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we contribute to creating a world where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, work, and personal growth, and where everyone can manage their menstruation safely, hygienically, and with dignity.
